FAQ: About Us

DIAS is a registered charity in Australia (CH 2072) – ABN 97 148 011 410. The directors are Rodney Callanan, Andrew Stewart, Jennifer Barker, Phil Walker and Dr Geoffrey Mitchell.

DIAS’ strategy is to stay low, and go slow. We are just a few droplets in a very large stream of support flowing in to Africa. We work with the very few people we know and have grown to trust. We know their names… we eat, laugh and sometimes cry with them. We work with one dream at a time; one project at a time; one person at a time. We do not compromise on ethics and integrity, and insist on the same from our partners.

Our partners have a clear vision for what they want to see happen in their communities – DIAS provides resources, planning, training, management experience and mentoring to make that vision become a reality. Members on our team travel to the communities multiple times a year to meet with our partners, assess projects, or provide more training.

You can support DIAS financially, through prayer, or by investing your skills on the ground. DIAS helps our partners in 3 key ways: supporting leaders, supporting children and supporting projects. When you give financially, you can decide which one of those areas you’d like to donate to. DIAS will then allocate your donation to the highest priority at the time you make your gift.  We also have urgent needs that arise, which you can give directly to.

If you have skills or resources that you would like to invest in a worthwhile project, we would love your help. DIAS has taken dozens of people with us on short-term visits, or connected them on the ground with trusted contacts. Contact us for more information.

There is specific funding for all overhead costs, including fees charged by Stripe, therefore 100% of funds received will go straight to the partners or projects.

Yes, your donations are tax deductible. The Australian Charities and not for Profit Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Tax Office (ATO) have classified us as a Public Benevolent Institution, and this means that all donations and gifts over $2 qualify for a tax-deductible receipt.
